Shelomi is currently a Master of Environmental Science candidate, completing research on the flora communities of peat bogs, their response to fire, and population genetics of a threatened swamp plant Boronia deanei subsp. deanei.
Previous research projects have included taxonomic and genetic investigation of a small herb, including DNA sampling along the NSW coast.
Shelomi has been awarded grants through the Ecological Consultants Association of NSW and Botanic Gardens Conservation International for genetic sampling of plants for her research and for contribution of Samoan plants to the Global Genome Initiative.
